Explanation
Magainin-II (Magainin 2) peptide is an antimicrobial peptide isolated from the Xenopus laevis frog skin. It is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It has also been reported to be active against protozoa. Magainin-II peptide shows its activity by interacting with anionic phospholipids found abundantly in the bacterial cell membrane.
Its amino acid sequence is H-Gly-Ile-Gly-Lys-Phe-Leu-His-Ser-Ala-Lys-Lys-Phe-Gly-Lys-Ala-Phe-Val-Gly-Glu-Ile-Met-Asn-Ser-OH.
BIOMOLTHERA offers extremely pure synthetic Magainin-II peptide.
